Anticipation

December 21, 2018

It's cold, with a heavy cloud cover and mixed rain and snow in Rochester on the shortest day of the year.  Concurrently, it's the longest night of the year; sunset was at 4:39 PM today, but it was dark well before that with the heavy clouds.  Time to get away.

We leave Monday, December 24 for Naples, Italy where we'll stay a few days, and then move on to Sorrento where we'll stay over the new year and come home on Friday, January 4.  Let's hope that the TSA workers and the air traffic controllers stay on the job in case of a government shutdown.

We plan to eat well, enjoy Italian wines, and experience Neapolitan singing--we have a reservation for the 26th here:

We'll visit Pompeii, Herculaneum, Capri and celebrate the new year Italian style.  Maybe there will be sunshine in Rochester when we return.

Stay tuned,

Victor

  1. Bon Voyage and Happy New Year. As noted in my recent post we are staying put for a bit. Well until the end of February.

    Love Italy, may return soon.

  2. Quite a description of a gloomy day before taking off for Italy! I hope the weather is better where you'll be. (Sorry, I'm reading these posts several days late.)
